Daniel Jonathan Stevens aka Dan Stevens is a well-known English actor who has appeared in a number of films. He is best known for his appearances in the action thriller films The Guest (2014) and Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb (both 2014). (2014). Stevens was adopted during his childbirth by guardians who also happened to be educators and grew up in Wales and southeast England. His birth sign is Libra. Following a tryout for the title role in Macbeth with his instructor, author Jonathan Smith, he became interested in the show.

Stevens began his professional acting career in 2004 when Peter Hall cast him as Orlando in his touring production of Shakespeare’s As You Like It. The Rose Theater in Kingston upon Thames, the Brooklyn Academy of Music in New York City, the Curran Theater in San Francisco, and the Ahmanson Theater in Los Angeles all hosted the production during its tour.

His debut performance received glowing reviews from notable critics in the United Kingdom and the United States, as well as a standing ovation at the 2004 Ian Charleson Awards.

Moreover, Stevens’ biggest break came in 2010 when he was cast as Matthew Crawley in the ITV adaptation of Downton Abbey, which was created and written by Oscar-winning screenwriter Julian Fellowes.

Furthermore, Stevens starred in the independent film The Guest in 2014, receiving critical acclaim for his portrayal of a recently discharged military veteran who goes on a murdering spree to protect his true identity. For his performance, he received a nomination for a Saturn Award for Best Actor.

Similarly, in the 2014 satire film Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb, he played a doppelgänger of Sir Lancelot. Stevens portrayed the Beast opposite Emma Watson as Belle in Disney’s live-action adaptation of Beauty and the Beast, directed by Bill Condon, in 2017.
