She was a key figure in CNN International’s coverage of the 2006 Israel-Hezbollah conflict, for which the network won the Edward R. Murrow Award. Gorani was also one of CNN’s Emmy News and Documentary editors for the network’s coverage of the 2011 Egyptian Revolution, which helped to depose then-President Hosni Mubarak.

She hosted The Middle East Challenge, an hour-long special that took an instructive and thought-provoking look at the threats and commitments facing the Middle East, in the beginning of 2009. Gorani previously hosted Inside the Middle East, a monthly show that included stories on the region’s most pressing social, political, and cultural issues.

Hala began her CNN career as an anchor at Bloomberg Television in London in 1998. She has also worked for the French network France 3 and the French cable network Paris Premiere, reporting on the news. Gorani started her professional career as a reporter for the French newspaper La Voix du Nord and the news agency Agency France Presse.
