Romano was born Raymond Albert Romano on December 21, 1957, in Queens, New York, USA. To mother Lucie Romano, piano teacher, and father Albert Romano, an engineer and real estate agent.

He has two siblings- older brother Richard Romano (born in 1956). A sergeant with the NYPD and Robert Romano, a second-grade teacher in NYC.

He joined Hillcrest High School and graduated in 1975. After that, he joined City University of New York, Queens College and graduated with a degree in accounting.

Professional Career

Initially, he worked as an accountant and started his career as a stand-up comedian in 1989. In the same year, he competed in the Johnnie Walker Comedy Search.

In addition, he made his appearance on The Comedy Central, Dr. Katz, Professional Therapist, Late Show with David Letterman. Romano became the star of his own show Everybody Loves Raymond in 1996.

Moreover, he made his guest appearances in TV series The King of Queens (1998-2005). And Sesame Street (2002), The Knights of Prosperity (2007). Similarly, Hannah Montana (2008), and lead role in Men of a Certain Age (2009-2011), Vinyl (2016), Get Shorty (2017-present).

Apart from his acting career, he is a screenwriter and producer of Everybody Loves Raymond. He is also a writer with three published books Everything and a Kite (1999), Raymie, Dickie and the Bean (2005), Everybody Loves Raymond: Our Family Album (2004).
