Bollywood actor Rishi Kapoor has died in hospital after a two-year battle with leukemia, his family representative confirmed during a statement. He was 67.
Kapoor, who was diagnosed with cancer in 2018 and returned to India last September following treatment in ANY, gave up the ghost peacefully on Thursday morning, Indian time, consistent with the statement. Kapoor had recently been admitted to a hospital in Mumbai, a spokesperson for Reliance Industries LTD., which is affiliated with the Sir HN Reliance Foundation Hospital in Mumbai confirmed.

He was grateful for the love of his fans that poured in from the planet over. In his passing, they might all understand that he would really like to be remembered with a smile and not with tears,” the statement said.
This is the film fraternity’s second loss in as many days – Irrfan Khan was claimed by cancer each day ago. Rishi Kapoor had been taken to hospital, his brother Randhir Kapoor confirmed to press agency PTI yesterday. “He is within the hospital. he’s affected by cancer and he has some breathing problems, so he has been admitted to the hospital. he’s stable now,” Randhir Kapoor told PTI.

Rishi Kapoor spent almost a year in any being treated for cancer and returned to Mumbai last September. In any, Mr. Kapoor had many visitors from back home, among them the Ambanis, Shah Rukh and Gauri Khan, Alia Bhatt, and Deepika Padukone.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, “Multifaceted, endearing and lively…this was Rishi Kapoor Ji. He was a powerhouse of talent. I will always recall our interactions, even on social media. This is the second loss for the film fraternity in as many days. Yesterday, another acclaimed actor, Irrfan Khan, died of cancer at 53.

In a statement, Rishi Kapoor’s family said he would really like to be remembered by his fans with a smile and not with tears.

“In this hour of private loss, we also recognize the planet goes through a really difficult and troubled time. There are numerous restrictions around movement and gathering publicly. we might wish to request all his fans and well-wishers and friends of the family to please respect the laws that are effective. He wouldn’t have it the other way,” said the family.

Actor Rishi Kapoor’s daughter Riddhima Kapoor Sahni has been given permission to pass by road to Mumbai amid the nationwide coronavirus lockdown. Riddhima Kapoor, 39, who is married to an industrialist and stays in Delhi, had reportedly asked the Union Home Ministry last night for permission to fly to Mumbai by a chartered flight.

Riddhima Kapoor posted a moving farewell on Instagram: “Papa I really like you I will be able to always love you – RIP my strongest warrior I will be able to miss you every day I will be able to miss your FaceTime calls every day! Until we meet again papa I really like you.”
