Torres was passionate about music and joined Lenny Kravitz’s team as his personal assistant. However, he partied hard and his drug addiction got him fired.

That’s when he started to see the light and realized that he was at fault, and he couldn’t go on blaming others for his own personal problems. He went to rehab and got himself clean. Sidney says about that time he spent in rehab, “It took me 48 hours of detox before I could even stand up. But I got through it. By 1997 I was clean.”

He then got a job working for a contractor. Sidney was still just 20 and soon began his real estate career. He first started with cleaning building sites and became a foreman within one year.

However, money was still a problem as he was making only $25k a year. He then reached out to his grandmother for help. His grandma told him, “You have 60 to 90 days to figure out what you want to do. If you’re still passionate, I’ll cosign and help you get your first deal done.”

After proving his grandmother that he was serious with his career, Sidney got a $50k loan and made his first-ever real estate investment. It is safe to say he has not looked back since. Within the next six or seven years, he had real estate worth $100.0 million. By the time he was 23, he was a millionaire.

In 2012, he bought a luxury resort, ‘The Cove’ in the Bahamas. He invested around $20 million on the island, built 75 villas and 2 restaurants, and re-opened the property in 2013.

Just when he was planning his next big project, a tragedy struck New Orleans. Hurricane Katrina hit his hometown. At first, he felt helpless as he saw the damage caused there. But after a call from the U.S. Marshall’s office, he swung into action to help locals in the devastated city.

He provided drinking water and fuel to keep generators running for a month and his New Orleans office became a hub for relief efforts distributing food, clothes, and other aid.

He soon became known as ‘the guy who cleaned up New Orleans,’ and was very well-respected and rewarded from all quarter. Later, he was even awarded the ‘keys to the city for his selfless efforts.
