Courtney Act was born Shane Gilberto Janek on 18 February 1982, in Brisbane, Queensland, Australia.

She initially appeared on the first season of Australian Idol in 2003. She then released her single, “Rug Me Wrong”, which was a success on the ARIA Singles Chart.

Therefore, in 2013, she was among 14 drag queens who competed on the sixth season of RuPaul’s Drag Race. She earned her position as a joint runner-up alongside Adore Delano.

Therefore, in 2014, she became the first drag performer to sing live with the San Francisco Symphony Orchestra.

In 2016, she was a foreign correspondent for the Australian news website, Junkee. She also participated in and reported on the 2017 Women’s March.
