Biography: Early Life, Education

A native of Chester, England, Daniel Wroughton Craig was born on March 2nd, 1968 to a steelworker and art teacher. As his background was with a family largely interested in the arts, Craig too got his start in acting from early on, frequenting his local theatre and even gracing the stage for a few performances. It was no surprise then that he left school to seriously pursue his acting career, becoming a member of various clubs, societies, and well-known English theatres.

From there he was accepted to London’s prestigious Guildhall School of Music and Drama. Following graduation, Craig was catapulted into a number of roles in England in various 90s shows like Friends in the North and The Fortunes and Misfortunes of Moll Flanders. It wasn’t until later in the early to mid-2000s that the actor became more widely known outside of his country as a prominent figure in Hollywood.

Daniel Craig starred in over a dozen films before landing 007, but his big break undoubtedly arrived with the highly anticipated premiere of Casino Royale in 2006.
